I Drank Shards Again Today

Today I decided:
I’ll put bricks,
one by one.
I’ll tear the glass walls down

Gently, I
will replace them with bricks.
The glass lets the sun through,
but I would

Rather live in a house
Darkly, with
My hot cup
of coffee, where I could

read in peace,
without something crashing.
Yes, I choose less the sun
If it means

I don’t have bits of glass
in my mug
on the floor
each godforsaken day.
